Successful Professional Athlete Treatment with Stem Cell Injection

We have treated a number of professional athletes with PRP and/or their own stem cells. I’d like to highlight two this morning.  Athletes are no different than anyone else, they’re always looking for less invasive ways to treat their orthopedic problems. These two are professional football players from different teams around the country. The first is a twenty something with a two month history of chronic groin pull which didn’t heal on it’s own. This was treated with x-ray guided PRP injections and he reports 90% improvement. He also had a multi-year history of chronic knee pain after an unsuccessful partial menisectomy surgery. This patient had a knee MRI showing loss of chondral cartilage on the lateral side, bone swelling, and mild arthritis on the medial side. He was treated with the Regenexx-SD procedure where his stem cells were drawn the same day, sent to the lab for isolation, and re-injected later that afternoon into the knee. While he”s only 1 month out from the procedure, he reports 75% improvement in that knee.

The second patient is a former professional football player who is in his early thirties with a severely arthritic knee which has had multiple unsuccessful surgeries and is an early knee replacement candidate. This patient is approximately 3 months out from his cultured Regenexx procedure and is reporting 85% improvement, with the treated knee feeling much stronger than the non-treated knee.
