Neven Steinmetz, Chief Scientific Officer of R&D
Originally from Powell, WY, Dr. Steinmetz received her bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech University and her master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado-Boulder. Upon graduation, she worked as an outreach education scientist in the underserved Denver metro schools for several years. In 2007, she returned to the University of Colorado to pursue a PhD, investigating tissue engineering strategies for engineering the osteochondral interface (the tissue between bone and cartilage) using human mesenchymal stem cells (h-MSCs) and graduated with her PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from CU in 2011. Upon graduation, she received a Whitaker International Postdoctoral Fellowship award and completed her fellowship research at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, UK. Neven joined Regenexx in 2015 and serves as the R&D Director, where she leads a team of highly talented clinical and lab based scientists and engineers who conduct research to advance the field of interventional orthopedics.
Ehren Dodson, Clinical Research Director
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Dodson completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Butler University. Dr. Dodson worked in the Sleep Medicine field for several years, both on the clinical side and conducting research before receiving her Doctorate from Saint Louis University in Experimental Psychology. Following a fellowship at Northwestern University, she taught psychology at St. Louis Community College before moving to Boulder, CO.
Deciding to return to her research interests, Dr. Dodson turned to the young and growing field of regenerative medicine and joined the Regenexx Research and Development team in 2016. As the Clinical Research Director, she is responsible for all of the clinical trials conducted in partnership with the Centeno-Schultz Clinic.
Ian Stemper, Lead Data Scientist
Originally from Denver, CO, Ian Stemper received his master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. Since graduation, he has received further education in statistical methods and machine learning techniques. He is experienced in medical device and software application design. He creates tools to enhance and automate data collection, integration, and analysis, both in-house and across the Regenexx network. Ian joined the Regenexx R&D Team in the fall of 2015.
Dustin Berger, MS-Senior Research Scientist
Originally from the mountains of Colorado, Dustin developed a passion for science at an early age. He received his bachelor’s degree in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2008. Eager to learn more, Dustin pursed graduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at Colorado State University. In 2011, he received his masters of science from CSU, where he investigated the osteogenic potential of mesenchymal stem cells in response to bone-inducing growth factors and substrate nanotopography. For several years thereafter, Dustin remained active in stem cell research, developing and validating in vitro liver models based on human induced pluripotent stem cells for use in functional studies and toxicity screening. Dustin joined the Interventional Orthopedics Foundation as a research scientist in the summer of 2015, investigating current interventional orthopedic treatment options and educating physicians on their use and then made the transition to the Regenexx R&D team in January, 2017.
