I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to hit the wall on good stuff to watch. The number of new movies is almost nil and I’ve watched all the great content on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. While I do have my weekly serials like “The Undoing” on HBO and “The Mandalorian” on Disney+, that leaves large gaps where I’m now rewatching old documentaries. If you’re in the same content doughnut hole, then take some time over the holidays to learn about the wild west of stem cells by watching Doug Orchard’s “From Jail Cell to Stem Cell”.

What Is This Movie?

Unlike the countless stem cell and exosome “Docuseries” infomercials, which could never earn an actual MPAA rating (Motion Picture Association of America) because they’re all blatant advertising, “From Jail Cell to Stem Cell” is an actual movie with an MPAA rating. That’s because the filmmaker had 100% creative control over what this was or wasn’t. He first showed up at the last IOF conference to interview physicians doing real science using orthopedic stem cell treatments. He then put together his own story based on what he observed. As an example, I and about a half dozen others were given a sneak peek of the film last year. I know that I had a ton of editorial comments, all of which were 100% ignored. Meaning the filmmaker made the movie he wanted to make.

“From Jail Cell to Stem Cell” explains the stem cell wild west which is hurting patients day in and out. It covers major scammers in the industry and shows just how they work with social media influencers to deceive patients. It also interviews dozens of actual stem cell experts to show what’s real and what’s not. The film-maker’s quest to find the truth took him from Florida to Colorado, to Paris, to the Jungles of Panama. You won’t believe what Doug finds and like me, you’ll be saying to yourself, “You just can’t make this stuff up!”
