Dr. Bashir Opens Regenexx Miami!

Six years ago we began the world’s first fellowship program in Interventional Orthopedics highlighting regenerative medicine. Dr. Bashir, one of our fellows, just opened his own Regenexx practice in Miami. So this morning, I’d like to highlight Dr. Bashir and our fellowship in general.

The Centeno-Schultz-Regenexx Fellowship Program

Most physicians using stem cells and platelet rich plasma (PRP) to treat orthopedic injuries have never had any formal training. Meaning, this isn’t something that they get taught in medical school, internship, residency, or fellowship. They basically learn what they know from a weekend course. To fill that gap, we along with other physicians began the Interventional Orthopedic Foundation (IOF). IOF offers the most comprehensive coursework and hands on training in Interventional Orthopedics available. As an example, if you want to complete the IOF program from stem to stern, you need to dedicate a few hundred hours of your time. However, if you want to go still further, then you enter a Regenexx fellowship program.

Our fellows get a unique experience as they can focus on orthobiologics like platelet rich plasma (PRP) and stem cells. They also get experience with hundreds of interventional orthopedic procedures. In addition, they’re also required to spend time performing and publishing research. In short, they’re some of the best-trained physicians using orthobiologics to treat orthopedic conditions using precise imaged guided procedures on the face of the earth.

Dr. Bashir’s Expertise

Dr. Bashir completed his fellowship at the Centeno-Schultz clinic in 2015, after which he remained on board as a staff physician for another year. During that time, he became an amazing student of the complex anatomy of our interconnected musculoskeletal system. As an example, he was key in advancing our knowledge of how to perfect the highly complex ACL stem cell injection procedure we perform. He also helped us understand some of the detailed connections of the knee ACL and PCL ligaments and the meniscus. In short, not only did Dr. Bashir learn, he then went beyond what he was taught to advance the field.
Following his time in Colorado, he worked as a consultant for Regenexx, helping to train network doctors in advanced procedures. He serves as a senior instructor with the Interventional Orthopedic Foundation and continues to educate other physicians, with the intention of elevating Regenerative Orthopedic care to the highest level.
The upshot? We’re proud to have one of our former fellows in south Florida representing what we do. Regenexx is unique in the amount and intensity of training that we require and provide our network physicians and we couldn’t be happier to have Dr. Bashir providing Regenexx care to the people of Miami!
