Avoid Wrist Surgery with Regenexx

The triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) is responsible for the use of our opposable thumbs and wear or injury can lead to wrist pain and swelling. In many cases, the recommended treatment for chronic TFCC problems is a surgery that involves shortening the ulna, the arm bone leading to the wrist, in order to reduce pressure. Research shows that this surgery, far from being a helpful long-term solution, actually leads to an increase in negative forces in the wrist that lead to future injuries. Beyond that, significant complications have been found in nearly 50% of patients following surgery.

During this outpatient procedure, our expert physicians use precise image guidance to inject custom concentrations of your body’s natural healing agents into the exact areas of injury in the TFCC to reduce pain and discomfort and to restore function. Best of all, your downtime will be a fraction of surgery and little to no time off of work. Call our patient care coordinators today to get started on your path to recovery.

Dr. Garcia specializes in nonoperative orthopedic care. He treats knees, shoulders, elbows, and hips. He has worked with various athletes, including weekend warriors, Olympic athletes, seniors, and professional athletes.

As he witnessed the aging of his athletic patients, he realized the need to support their continued activity and sports participation. With regenerative medicine, many of his patients continue to enjoy their sports well into their 80s, even after experiencing injuries or arthritic conditions.

Dr. Garcia has been practicing regenerative medicine for more than 10 years, while giving his patients an alternative to corticosteroids and surgery. He started with prolotherapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Over the past 5 years, he has been adding bone marrow concentrate (BMC) when necessary. Bone marrow concentrate is known to contain mesenchymal signaling cells (MSC’s), which are commonly referred to as stem cells.

He is the Medical Director of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team. He also lectures throughout the country on military/police medicine, shoulder rehabilitation, and various treatment options for knee arthritis.
