The Ultimate Complement

Recently, after a review of the patients we were seeing for the Regenexx-C procedure, I noticed that a high number were health care providers or linked to health care providers (doctors, nurses, physical therapists, etc…).  Why?  As I thought about this, it was clear that most of these patients know the risk/benefit ratio of big procedures such as joint replacements, rotator cuff repairs, and low back surgery all too well.  They have personally seen that these procedures are not like going to a repair shop to get a replacement part.  They have seen complications such as infections and know that a joint replacement infection requires weeks and weeks of IV antibiotics through a catheter inserted close to the heart.   They have seen the bad results sometimes associated with big surgical procedures.

So when it comes time for them to contemplate these big procedures, they start looking for alternatives to surgery.  They investigate our process with the eye of an experienced health care provider.  They look at our science, our lab procedures, our experience with true minimally invasive care.  After they review all of this, they pay us the ultimate compliment by becoming patients.

One specific compliment comes to mind.  A Harvard physician (who has undergone the Regenexx-C procedure) and I were at dinner in the Orient.  I had gone there for a lecture on stem cells.  The physician turned to me (after a few drinks) and said, “I love your science man…”.  While it was in the midst of drinking toasts (a ritual that anyone who has visited the Orient will immediately recognize), it was a great compliment from preeminent physician.

In the end, we consider it a great honor to serve our health care related patients.
