Regenexx Annual Meeting Today
Today is our annual Regenexx Affiliates meeting. We do this every year so that our doctors all remain on the same page. Let’s dig in.
The Regenexx Network
We have the world’s largest specialty-trained Interventional Orthobiologics physician network. Right now that’s about 80 sites and we add about 10-20 sites a year, so by the end of this year, we expect to reach that 100 site mark.
What’s unique is that our doctors are screened heavily before they can join the network. Meaning they have to have specific types of image-guided injection training in the musculoskeletal system in order to join our team. They then need quite of bit of additional training on almost 100 specific procedures.
Keeping Everyone on the Same Page
This morning’s crowd at our annual conference is shown above (just took that pic). That crowd is down about 1/3 due to Omicron. Not because any physician I know of is afraid of getting sick with Omicron (it’s a mild disease relative to Alpha), but many doctors are afraid of being out for 5-days while they quarantine. If you’re in a small practice, that can really mess things up.
How do you keep hundreds of physicians and staff on the same page? You can send emails and make training videos, but there’s no substitute for just getting together once a year. That’s what we’re doing this week.
So what do we do at an annual Affiliate conference? First, a huge chunk of the time is dedicated to presenting clinical cases to make sure we all use a consistent and evidence-based approach. Second, there’s making sure that all of the Admin staff is on the same page.
IOF
We usually host our annual conference in conjunction with the Interventional Orthobiologics Foundation annual meeting. This allows our doctors to hear from a panoply of experts sharing the latest and greatest evidence in Orthobiologics. This year the IOF meeting is tomorrow and many of our doctors will attend.
Outside of Regenexx?
The goal of the Regenexx network is to standardize Interventional Orthobiologics. The problem is that outside of our network, finding a doctor with the training and qualifications of any of our network physicians is about a 1 in 10 proposition. However, the procedure you can access even at the good clinics varies very widely.
In our network, the procedure you can access is very similar across all sites. To get there takes a tremendous effort of making sure everyone gets the memo. It also takes physician specialists coming together and making tweaks to protocols that are based on the best evidence and clinical experience.
The upshot? It’s exciting to think that this group of doctors, who are some of the best in the world at what they do, come together annually to share what they know and all get on the same page. Time to get back to our meeting!
