Update on a Stem Cell Treatment for Severe Traumatic Ankle Arthritis

ankle arthritis stem cell

CB was a 39 year old woman seen last summer with a three year history of ankle pain that was getting worse. When her pain was at it’s worst, it was a 7/10. This all began in 2008 when she was in a potentially catastrophic car crash where she sustained a tib-fib fracture that required immediate surgery. A second surgery was performed 6 days later and finally a third surgery, all to stabilize these compound ankle fractures. Her results with a Regenexx-SD procedure which is Bone Marrow Concentrate which contains the patients own stem cells to treat her ankle arthritis were featured on the blog in the spring and can not be expected by all ankle arthritis Regenexx-SD patients.  Here’s her update at 1 year out:

“Hi Dr! I received a Regenexx survey this week due to it being a year since my Regenexx procedure. I completed and submited. I’m doing GREAT!!! I’m now jogging and I walk 5 miles daily;-). Before regenexx I was lucky to walk a half of a mile without having severe pain and on some cold and rainy days I was not even able to hardly walk in my home due to my level of pain. Everyday, I’m thankful for my quality of life. Sometimes when I finish a long hike of 7 miles I have mild pain but within 24 hours all pain is gone. I suffered a lot of pain in my ankle between 2008 and 2011 following the automobile accident and I don’t regret it because of all the pain I suffered makes me a more grateful person and more appreciative of the quality of life that I now have. You and Dr. Schultz and Regenexx have given me a better quality of life and I’m so very thankful on a daily basis. Also, I  appreciated your COMPASSION which is rare these days. I think you are so GREAT!! I hope you and your family are doing wonderful!”

Looks like she’s still doing well!

NOTE:  Regenexx-SD is a medical procedure and like all medical procedures has a success and failure rate.  Not all Regenexx-SD ankle patients can expect this type of result.
